To save your file as PNG-44 in Photoshop CC, type SHIFT + ALT + CTRL + W. Export as File> Export> Select from the dropdown menu at the top of the application window. Note: If you use an older version of Photoshop, you won’t find advanced option. You can choose to save to the web and select PNG-24 from the preset dropdown menu on the right in the dialog box.
In the dialog box that appears, below the file settings to the right of the box, set the PNG format. Make sure the transparency box is on checking. Don’t check small files (8-bit) – it converts the file to PNG-8.
You will see the file size predicted for your PNG file on the left side of the image. This is important to note because larger file sizes will load your web page more slowly. Many people prefer to keep web images smaller than 200 KB or less.
To the right of your dialogue box, under Image Size, you have the option to adjust the dimensions of your image. The small size means a small file size. Yet, you do not want to make your image’s dimensions smaller? Then you can create blurred or pixelated images.
Product on a Retina display
While many of your customers are viewing your product on a Retina display, they expect more. It’s a good practice to store your product image at a 50% –100% larger than the size you desire. This will help it to look crisp on all devices.
If you know your product will be a maximum of 400px wide, you can make it at least 600px wide here. So, yes, you need to work with some balance to maximise your image’s size while reducing your file size.
To reduce the load time, you can choose to save only your featured product images for larger retina displays. It will allow most of your product images in saving mode in their original form.
Step 5: Save your file
Once you have resized your image to the correct size, click Export All. In the Save dialogue box, select the folder to hold your web-ready product images. You can avoid confusion when loading your images on your site.
Hence, you have to keep optimal image files separated from your original image files. Put the image Name and make sure its extension is set to .png. Click set save.

Step 1: Open your logo fine into the photoshop
Go to file> Open and navigate until your logo is on the file. Click Open after you open it. Open the JPG (or other raster formats) file in Photoshop. Yet, if you open the vector format file, you must make sure that your settings are correct in the dialogue box that appears. The bounding box is set Constance ratio checked Mode: RGB colour. Step 2: Make your Background transparent.
If you are working with a vector file, you can skip this step. Yet, if you are working with a JPG, you need to select and delete the image’s background as we did in step 1 above when we clear the background of an image of a product you need to double-click the background layer.
You will find this in the Layers panel and click OK to convert the background to layer. Selecting the background of the logo file is slightly different. It is different from choosing a product image background as your logo background is probably all white.
You can select the Magic Wand tool from the toolbar and click on your logo file’s white background. If you need to select multiple regions, hold down the SHIFT key and click the Magic Wand tool to associate it with the selection.
After selecting the full background, type BACKSPACE (delete on a Mac). You will now have a transparent and background, represented by the grey and white checkerboard type.
Step 3: Save image file as a PNG file in Photoshop
To export your file as PNG-44, we have created a transparent product image above. Follow steps 4 and 5 from there. Whether your original file was in JPG, AI, PDF or other file formats, these steps are the same.
When you export your image, you will notice that your file size is significantly smaller. It would be smaller than your transparent background product image. This is because logos have only one or two colours instead of thousands of colours in a product image. So there is no need to reduce your image’s proportions when you save your logo file.
Keep the original file sizes you are working with the same size and click Save. You now know how to create web-ready images with transparent backgrounds. You should practice this because your site will look beautiful without slowing down.
